The memorial structure is located on an inclined open space opposite the entrance to principal’s quarters and abutting the school play area. It is conceived as a large structure (10 metres long), represented as both “ land form” and “architecture”, with coloured bricks in camouflage pattern referencing imagery of combat and “Lego” construction. From the play area the memorial is less clear, and integrates with the laconic structure of the existing school buildings. A seat is integrated at the rear to reinforce this more casual reading.
On Anzac day at dawn, the brickwork coloration is virtually obscured by the dim morning light, achieving an atmosphere of contemplation. As dawn breaks the structure takes on the more playful outcomes.
